I was travelling way out west in the far reaches of Queensland when I came across a wonderful free camping spot called Clem Walton Park at Corella Dam, in fact it was so beautiful I stayed for 2.5 weeks
As I made it to cobble landing I couldn’t resist some fish and chips and a waffle as I sat and watched people washing the lifeboat that had returned for a training exercise. After making a pig of myself I then walk along the beach and up the many stairs of Filey Brigg, which brought me back to country carpark then into town and back home.
I have been promising my Aunt Anne a painting of Filey now for a little while but wasn’t quite sure what to paint her and then it came to me.
I was camping at Possum Park, just outside Miles, Queensland for a few nights and the owner fell in love with my art works and couldn’t wait to show me what she had in her converted train carriages.
I wanted to paint something a little different from my last frog and decided to add some fungi as I love this type of photography.
Well considering my last blog I had a little bit of a melt down because of things not quite going to plan, to this frog, one of my best works to date.
The painting that almost broke me…
This time I was hoping for a quick watercolour painting and was sadly mistaken, as everything just kept going wrong.
So revisiting Filey beach, North Yorkshire England for a second time this week. I must have walked this beach hundreds of times as a kid and made lots of sandcastle, trenches on the beach
Iv’e always wanted to paint some scenery form my home town, but never seemed to get around too it. A week of Christmas themes and a gift all changed that.
Just as Pete and Cynthia were getting their boat ready for a day of fishing and red clawing at Wuruma Dam boat ramp a pelican came by looking for food.
I must say that this is one of my favourite places in the mountains, and without the crowds like at Lincoln’s Rock. I accidentally found it while checking out the aerial maps to find a good spot to watch the sun set.
I awoke to morning dew on my tent and as I stepped outside under foot and between my toes I could feel the wetness. Mist was floating past my face and being caught in spiderwebs, backlit by golden light of the rising sun.
In September 2020 I visited the Cairns Aquarium so I could photograph some of the larger and more dangerous marine life with getting wet.
Well this is a different kind of a story as I’ve broken my own rules about only using my own photographs. I saw a sea urchin in seaweed on a friends instagram account (Charlottegannet).
