Possum Park has five train carriages set aside for accommodation, and back in November 2020 I stayed in one for a month as an exchange for one of my original artworks framed.
One of the largest attractions at Possum Park is the restored TAA Vickers Viscount Plane VH-TVL, its Davids 11yr old project and future overnight accommodation for 2ppl.
A few months ago I was walking just past the 2.5km sign and came across a lace monitor sunning itself on the road. I walked up to it slowly and was able to get a few photos before it run off.
Bunker No 1 is the first in my Possum Park collection and can be seen if you do the 3.4km bunker walk while staying at Possum Park. Julie the owner was feeling down one day, and as she was putting things into storage she noticed a message chalked onto the wall. “I love you sweetheart” and she began to smile.
This was another rescue frog, as they’re not supposed to be in the rooms so I relocated it outside my cottage. Most nights I can hear frogs and I’ve found their hiding spot during the day between the bricks.
It was just on sunset in late November and I could see a storm brewing in the south, the sky was getting darker and more menacing.
I managed to photograph another double barred finch while house sitting at a friends house in Eidsvold. It jumped up, pulled down the grass seeds so it could have a feed, very informative to watch.
Since the bottle brush had almost stopped flowering it didn’t have many insects on it. The other tree was in full flower and had 5 types of bees and a few wasps, so I combined the two photos to create this painting.
It was rather exciting as I hadn’t seen this type of frog before, even though its a rather common one in Queensland.
Australian magpies are a beautiful, intelligent birds and very fun to watch, but they get a bad reputation around nesting time. This one was photographed at the back of the BBQ area at Possum Park and had no interest in me in the slightest.
A few months ago I joined a Facebook group called Sketching – The Great Outdoors Adventure where adventurers submit photos of themselves in the great outdoors and then artists can choose to paint these photos.
I was walking around Australia Zoo when I spotted this white faced heron looking for some lunch among the water lilies. I managed to get a nice photograph of the heron but decided to use another photo of the lilies with more flowers.
when I started taking these photos I didn’t think that they would end up as one of my best paintings as I was more into making videos at the time.
This is another one from Australia Zoo, the place I go to photograph difficult to find or unusual animals. I didn’t realise that doves came in such bright colours and I would love to find one in the wild on day.
The blue faced honey eater is a wonderful bird that hangs around my cottage every day, all year round. I often see it taking a drink from my bird bath or searching around the bushes for berries.
Well this is one of my favourite birds purely because of there comical antics they get up to if they like you. Be warned however if they take a disliking to you they can be pure evil
Ravi is used to promote my art gallery at Possum Park and I’m quite fond of this little red panda guiding customer down towards the cottage.
Overall I’m very happy with this painting and glad I stopped to take the photo, while walking the Camino. This has now become one of my favourite paintings and possibly future greeting cards as I may not sell the original.
Another painting of Filey, North Yorkshire on the east coast of England, a beautiful seaside town. This time this painting was a gift for my stepmom.
I have always wanted to paint The Keep as it has a prominent feature seen from many angles around Scarborough. On my last trip I was shown a nice vantage point to take some good photos which has now become one of my latest paintings.
