I was out photographing birds one day with my 600mm telephoto lens, when a dragonfly landed on a nearby twig. So I thought I would see if I could focus on it with this huge lens, just as I thought I was way to close.
I took a few steps back and the dragonfly came into focus and the blurry background was just outstanding, I knew this would make a stunning painting.

For my 50th birthday the owners of Possum Park where I work bought me a compressor so I thought I had the perfect painting to try it out on. Actually since it was a bit of a process to setup I decided to work on three artwork background at once.

My painting come from my own experiences that I have photographed while traveling. By reading this blog, you as a viewer can now hear The Story Behind the Painting. Where, when, what was happening while I was photographing the wildlife.
Enjoy, Chris Osborne
That’s marvelous. What a tribute to a prehistoric insect!

Thank you so much. I’m thinking of getting a macro lens so I can take much better closeups as they interest me so much
