Casual Observer

The Story Behind the Painting

One day I was gardening and felt light I was being watched, and looked around and couldn’t see anyone. Once I moved and I got a clear view of a casual observer watching me gardening incase I disturbed any bugs in the leaf litter.

I went inside and changed my lense on my camera for the nice big telephoto and started observing the observer. It started to sprinkle and thought this would make a nice photo, but I was too scared to add the rain into my painting. Once you add any paint to the black paper it always leaves a mark if you try and remove it. I may at some stage create this as a n acrylic painting that way I could experiment more with rain droplets.

Gouache on Canson Paper

For my Black Label collection I use Winsor & Newton Gouache on Black Colourfix Art Spectrum Paper or Black Mi-Teintes Touch Canson Paper.

My painting come from my own experiences that I have photographed while traveling. By reading this blog, you as a viewer can now hear The Story Behind the Painting. Where, when, what was happening while I was photographing the wildlife.

Enjoy, Chris Osborne
