I was out at Waruma Dam camping when the world turned in on itself and covid happened, There was a rumour that all the airports were going to close and restrictions were going to come in soon.
I had quite my job and sold my house in Sydney and was now living from camping site to camping site trying to do the big lap around Australia, living life to the fullest and carefree. This was all about to change in a few days time.
Unfortunately the government decided to close down all the free camping spots and most of the caravan parks. Luckily my mother had a BnB so I had a place to stay for a few months. So I cherished the last few days of freedom and soaked in as much wildlife as possible before lockdown.
I painted this artwork at the beginning of 2023 when most things have managed to get back to normal. I now live out at Possum Park on 360 acres and have plenty of room to roam free like the Wallabies.
I named this painting mobile home, because the joey was living out of a pouch and I was living out of my car and they were both mobile.

I like to build up the ground starting with stones and termite mounds then working on smaller stones and gravel.
Then I move onto sticks to give the painting a more 3D plane and finally add in some grasses.

For my Black Label collection I use Winsor & Newton Gouache on Black Colourfix Art Spectrum Paper or Black Mi-Teintes Touch Canson Paper.
My painting come from my own experiences that I have photographed while traveling. By reading this blog, you as a viewer can now hear The Story Behind the Painting. Where, when, what was happening while I was photographing the wildlife.
Enjoy, Chris Osborne

Thank you. I’ve photographed 90 different birds at possum park over the past few months so expect more birds and lizards in the future.
I was also writing blogs all day yesterday so have the next 20 days covered, while I take a trip into NSW
