The Drive to Australia Zoo

Australia Zoo Markets were 3.5hrs drive from home and as we got closer to the zoo it was apparent that the 0% chance of rain may not happen. The clouds stared to build and its was getting darker the closer we got to the zoo, then it started to rain half an hour from the zoo.

As we turned off the Motorway it stopped raining but it was now windy and grey clouds loomed in all directions. I had my fingers crossed that the rain was going to stay away, as we didn’t have a wet weather plan other than pack all the artworks under the table.

We were setup half an hour before the markets officially opened so I had a chance to talk to other stall owners and see what their setups were like.

Mum decided to help out with the stall and as always is there to encourage me in my adventures. She also brought the expos machine which was a life saver and I’m now looking at getting a square card reader as people are carrying less and less cash now a days.

We had blue sky on one side of the zoo and rain about 1km away that never managed to land on the market, but the threat was there all day.

I must say I had an excellent day at the zoo and it was good to get out and talk to people about my artwork. Later in the afternoon lots of the zoo keepers came over and chatted to me about the animals they look after. I also found out that Burrow the wombat is a female and the red panda was called Ravi.

One of the best sellers was the framed wombats and bookmarks. I think if it was a different time I would have sold more artworks to international travellers, overall it was quite successful market.
