I’ve been wanting to paint a cassowary for a while now, but sticking to my rule of only painting from my own photographs, this was a little difficult.
I could not believe how colourful the rainbow bee-eater was, I was mesmerised by it darting around me.
Back in August 2015 I traveled to Canada with my sister for 3 weeks. We had just hiked to the top of a hill and were looking back down to Lake Louise at the Fairmont resort
Yes I love my birds and I remember watching them in our back yard as a kid, when I used to live in England.
Corella dam was full of wildlife and I must have photographed around 20 different types of birds in that two weeks I camped there.
This little bird I found flying around my campsite and hopping from post to post catching little bugs. I’ve now painted a Red Robin from the UK and this time on the other side of the world the Australian Yellow Robin.
August 2019 I went to Australia Zoo for my birthday and little did I know at the time that this become a source for my first few paintings.
This painting is of a Grey Squirrel is from one of my photographs I shot in 2018 while visiting my home town Filey, North Yorkshire, England. You can spot them running up and down trees in and around Glen Gardens, one of our local parks.
