While on the second part of our Alaskan tour we did a 7 day cruise and just while we were sitting down to lunch we arrived at Margerie Glacier at Tara Inlet in Glacier Bay National Park. We had a running commentary on the load speakers from a park ranger that came aboard. Even though we had an hour sitting in front of the glacier it was hard to sit down and enjoy our meals before wanting to get outside and soak in the atmosphere.
On deck the views were magnificent no mater which way you looked. I think I’ll be painting mountains and glaciers for years to come. For this painting I thought I would try one of my black label artworks so I could get as much detail as possible with my fine brushes. The idea was to use the black paper to make the ice pop off the page. I was very happy with the results.

For my Black Label collection I use Winsor & Newton Gouache on Black Colourfix Art Spectrum Paper or Black Mi-Teintes Touch Canson Paper.
My painting come from my own experiences that I have photographed while traveling. By reading this blog, you as a viewer can now hear The Story Behind the Painting. Where, when, what was happening while I was photographing the wildlife.
Enjoy, Chris Osborne
Such a different world. I like the way you portrayed it all.
