Growlers – Iceberg

The Story Behind the Painting

Seeing an iceberg or in this case a growler (small iceberg) has been on my bucket list for years. This was seen from a 7 day cruise from Anchorage to Vancouver with a few stops at different ports along the way.

The air was crisp and once the mist lifted it presented some magnificent views, which no doubt I will paint at some stage. The closer we got to the glaciers the temperature would drop a little. I was fascinated with all the shapes that could be seen in the ice, I spotted dragons and doves.

The otters and seals that were sunning themselves on the ice and people watching as we were looking back at them wildlife watching. The cruise was excellent lots to see from the ship and the food was amazing with plenty of variety throughout the day and evening. Just wish I knew about the free drinks package that was included in my ticket on day one rather than day five. Oh well I’ll know next time.
