The Inspiration Behind My Painting

In June – July 2024, I went on holiday to the state of Alaska and Canada. I spent 5 weeks on two separate tours. These tours included a cruise and a side trip to Niagara Falls. On one of our tours we stopped off at ‎⁨Meier’s Lake Roadhouse⁩, ⁨Alaska⁩ for lunch. This little cabin was just outside the roadhouse near the Meier’s lake. I just fell in love with the cabin and the surrounding forest. It had such a beautiful view of the lake. But, the number of flies was unbelievable the closer you got to the water. This would become one of my first Alaskan paintings once I got back home.

I have decided to spend more time painting in acrylic. As I like to expand my skills to a new medium. My goal is to start painting larger but still keep the fine detail like in a gouache paintings. This one is for my next exhibition, “International Inspirations” at Wondai in September 2025. I started off with a small acrylic painting. My next few paintings will gradually get larger. You will read about them in my next few blogs, so stay tuned.
