Red-capped Robin #2

The Story Behind the Painting

I must say this is one of my favourite bird finds at Possum Park and was such a delight to watch. Very hard bird to photograph as it wouldn’t keep still long enough for me focus and always preferred the shade within trees or bushes. Once in the sun I’m not sure why but most of the photos came out a light orange and not the rich red of the actual feathers. The shots weren’t over exposed the camera just was not picking up the red.

My Painting Process

Stage 1.

I must say that I’m definitely starting to enjoy acrylic paintings now I’m getting used to the quick drying times. To be fair it was almost 30+ deg so I definitely think acrylic painting is a winter activity and not a summer medium.

Stage 2.

Happy with the tree branch, I moved onto the head and back of the bird.

Finished Artwork .

My painting come from my own experiences that I have photographed while traveling. By reading this blog, you as a viewer can now hear The Story Behind the Painting. Where, when, what was happening while I was photographing the wildlife.

Enjoy, Chris Osborne
