This is becoming one of my favourite birds here at Possum Park. It has a wonderful call and hops and jumps between plants, you can also see it hanging upside down feeding on the nectar.
This honeyeater was just outside my cottage as you can see the metal fence in the background.

My first background of a few burnt trees and some grass seemed too complicated. It became immediately apparent this wasn’t going to work.
So don’t be afraid to change the background from the reference photograph if you think it will work better.

Stage 1.
My new soft focus background should place more focus on the bird.

Stage 2.

Stage 3.

Finished Artwork.

These two paintings of mine were for sale at the local art gallery. The exhibition was called “anon” where you remained anonymous and didn’t sign the front of your artwork.
The people that bought my superb fairy wren worked out it was me because of the detail and my usual subject of birds, even though it wasn’t my usual medium, gouache.
My painting come from my own experiences that I have photographed while traveling. By reading this blog, you as a viewer can now hear The Story Behind the Painting. Where, when, what was happening while I was photographing the wildlife.
Enjoy, Chris Osborne
