Old Station Masters House

The Story Behind the Urban Sketching

While I was helping someone move, I noticed this amazing abandoned building across the road, so I photographed it on my phone. It turns out to be the old Station masters house at Drillham.

The first photo I took was parallel to the building, which looked nice but I wanted to create a little bit of depth and shape. So I took another photo a few meters to the right and in front of a road sign so this wasn’t included in the shot.

I crouched down to include space under the house making the dry grass look more menacing and overgrown.

My Sketching and Painting Process

Adding waterproof Ink over the pencil so this will not bleed during the watercolour stage.
