About May 2023 I redesigned Possum Parks website because it hadn’t been updated for about 20 years apart from a few additional photos of the plane. Anyway I thought it would be a good idea to add some activities like birdwatching and photography to the website.
I had previously bought a 600mm lens for bird photography but hadn’t really used it, so I thought this little project would get it on the front of my camera. I walked around the park that first day and came up with out 15 different birds, the normal magpies, doves, and apostles birds that you see everywhere.
The next week I got a few extra birds when I had a chance to get my camera out, but it wasn’t until I met a few birders and they suggested going out at 6am. So I dragged my butt out of bed and walked all over the park at 6am for two hrs and got even more birds. Then one day I came across a pair of spotted pardalote’s building a nest and this definitely got me hooked on bird photography.
I have since found a few good spots for bird photography around the park and now take tours and help people with their camera settings. My tally is 90 birds as I write this blog so visit Possum Parks bird watching list to see the birds I have photographed, and hopefully by the time this blog gets published I’ll have photographed some summer visitors too.

My painting come from my own experiences that I have photographed while traveling. By reading this blog, you as a viewer can now hear The Story Behind the Painting. Where, when, what was happening while I was photographing the wildlife.
