Laugh Like Nobody’s Watching

The Story Behind the Painting

While I was camping at Waruma Dam I spotted a Laughing Kookaburra in a tree staring down at the ground. It had obviously spotted something in the grass and was about to swoop down for lunch. Unfortunately for the kookaburra two noisy minors were not impressed with an intruder in their part of the park and started swooping it.

The kookaburra snapped its beak at the swooping noisy minors and I managed to capture the moment. So in this instance it’s not actually laughing but defending itself from other birds and also missed out on lunch.

Gouache on Canson Paper

For my Black Label collection I use Winsor & Newton Gouache on Black Colourfix Art Spectrum Paper or Black Mi-Teintes Touch Canson Paper.

My painting come from my own experiences that I have photographed while traveling. By reading this blog, you as a viewer can now hear The Story Behind the Painting. Where, when, what was happening while I was photographing the wildlife.

Enjoy, Chris Osborne
