Last year I thought I would do something a little different and paint three lighthouses and give them away on my instagram account. Two of theses lighthouses were in Australia the other one was from my previous trip to the UK.
Old Burnett Heads Lighthouse – 1873
Wollongong Breakwater Lighthouse – 1871
Flamborough Head Lighthouse – 1806

Initial Pencil sketch.

Adding waterproof Ink over the pencil so this will not bleed during the watercolour stage and erasing pencil.

Watercolour added loosely just for some basic colour.

Tombo brush pens added for toning and shadows.

Drawing in all the fine details in ink.

As you can see I added a little extra colour to the Flamborough Head Lighthouse unfortunately I forgot the Tombo brush pens were not waterproof and things became a little muddy.
I put these 3 artworks on my instagram account as a giveaway and only got one response. So someone got to choose which one they wanted and loved the Flamborough Head Lighthouse.
So on my instagram account always read the text of quick sketches as it could be a give away.
I use Winsor & Newton Professional Watercolour on Arches France Watercolour Paper, 300g Hot Pressed or Fabriano Artistico Watercolour Paper 300g Hot Pressed..
Tombo Brush Pens N15, N45, N55, N60, N65, N95 and Faber Castell Fine-liners 0.05, 0.1, 0.3, 0.5, 0.7
Enjoy, Chris Osborne
They are all beautiful. Well done!
