Watercolour & Ink

You’re invited to paint with Chris Osborne in a 4 hour introduction to watercolour & ink workshop. Where he will guide you through sketching and painting one of his four workshops below.
He will cover the basics of perspective, sketching simple shapes to build a complex looking structure or landscape.

Colour mixing with a limited palette will be covered along with tone work with Tombow brush pens. Then we will finish by working in all the details with a selection of fine liner pens.
This is a very loose style of watercolour painting enhanced with ink work, used for urban sketching but set in a classroom environment with a small group of 6 people.

The aim is to loosen up, have fun flicking paint and letting your pens dance around quality watercolour paper and having an artwork you will be proud to hang in your home.

Choose Your Subject

Osborne has created a watercolour & ink workshop with the choice of multiple subjects. The students will decide the subject as a group on their previous experience, ability and confidence. Below you can view Osborne’s original artwork and the reference image you will be working from at the workshop. Drag the slider from side to side to compare reference image and my representation as a watercolour sketch, note what Osborne has omitted to create a better composition or a more dramatic sketch.

The workshop is set out over 4 hours with short breaks about every hour, this should be plenty of time for students to complete a few simple exercises and their main artwork. Also a few demonstrations by the instructor. Timetable example and maybe refined more on the day.

The course will be follow by example, Osborne will explain each technique while sketching and painting, this will be live streamed onto a 31″ TV or a projector if available for the students to watch and follow along.
