You’re invited to paint with Chris Osborne in this 4hr introduction to gouache workshop. Where you will be guided through the use of flat, round, angled, rigger and stippling brushes. Each brush has many uses and you will be shown when to use each one.
We will also cover masking fluid to block out sections of the watercolour paper.
Each student will receive a welcome pack with Arches watercolour paper, detailed instructional handouts, fridge magnet and a few more items.

This is an excellent introduction workshop for people that have not used gouache paint before.
You will be shown both wet and dry brush techniques and follow along with a few painting exercises to get used to working with gouache and watercolour paper.
Gouache is an opaque medium and excellent to build up layers of colour. This is especially good to for painting overlapping feathers or fur on animals.
Osborne will teach you how to see and get the most out of a scene. Teach you how to capture the fine details that he is well known for.
After you have learned how to use your brushes with gouache, you will then create a painting using these new skills. You will choose to create a background with wet in wet or dry techniques, whatever you feel more comfortable with. White gouache will become your favourite paint to use for highlights and mixing colours.

The course will be follow by example, Osborne will explain each technique while sketching and painting in front of you. This will be viewed live on a tv or projected onto a wall if projector available.

Students will be shown a good workspace setup and how to avoid mishaps while working on their project.
This is a list of materials that each student will be supplied with, to use on the day. (Please only take home your watercolour artworks and paper exercises in folder provided.)
