You’re invited to paint with Chris Osborne in a 2 hour introduction to brush & tone techniques workshop. Where you will be guided through the use of flat, round, stippling and rigger watercolour brushes. Each brush has many uses and you will be shown when to use each one.
This is an excellent introduction workshop for people that have not used brushes with watercolour or gouache before
You will be shown both wet in wet and wet in dry techniques and how to avoid some common mistakes. Masking your paper and using masking fluid to control your paint, and simple tricks to get straight lines.
Learning about tone is an excellent skill to have and these exercises will be invaluable for all kinds of artwork whether it be watercolour, acrylic or pencil sketches.
The aim is to learn how to use watercolour brushes, guide paint around your paper and develop a painting using tone with Payne’s Grey and shades of blue.
After you have learned how to use your brushes and watercolour paint you will then create a small watercolour painting using these new skills.

The course will be follow by example, Osborne will explain each technique while sketching and painting,

Students will be shown a good workspace setup and how to avoid mishaps while working on their project.
This is a list of materials that each student will be supplied with to use on the day. (Please only take home your watercolour artworks and paper exercises in folder provided.)
